The Courage Tufa Ring - 9 CARAT GOLD Sz 8.5 (approx $5299 USD)
This spectacular boulder opal from Winton, QLD is somewhat of a 'chameleon'. It changes from red, orange, and aqua with a flick of the wrist. The way the sun brings out the colour variations is simply amazing, and I have never seen an opal quite like it. It also has a stripe of glitter in the right hand side that only looks better in person! An opal of this calibre needed to be set in gold, but I went the extra mile and casted the band in tufa. There is a tonnnne of gold in this piece, and it has stolen my heart. A real piece of art that can be cherished for a lifetime.
Tufa is a porous rock that has been used for thousands of years in the jewellery making process, predominantly by Native Americans. This ring has had a one-off mould hand carved in tufa. Hot metal has then been poured into the mould to create these beautiful ring bands. Each band is 100% handmade by Kate.
The band is 1.9cm wide at the widest part of the arch, and 1cm at the taper below. The stone face measures approximately 3cm x 1.2cm.
Size: US 8.5 / UK Q
Note: This ring will fit half size smaller than the listed size, due to the wider band. Therefore, it will fit like an 8.
All Mahkato Silver pieces are handmade with genuine .925 Sterling Silver, slowly crafted in Kate’s Sunshine Coast studio, and feature unique hand stamped designs. All stones used are Australian, and cut/polished by local lapidary artists. The Mahkato Silver makers mark stamp is visible on the inside of ring bands, and on the backs of earrings, pendants / other pieces.
*OPALS
Mahkato Silver only uses SOLID opals. The true colour of your opal ring may vary slightly to the photograph. The colour of opals varies greatly with light and shadow. It’s also important to note that they’re a naturally occurring material and might include natural ‘imperfections’.
IMPORTANT: Opal jewellery should be treated with care when worn. It is important to note that they are a natural material and can be subject to cracking if they are knocked against something hard, or dropped.
