Tufa is a porous rock that has been used for thousands of years in the jewellery making process, predominantly by Native Americans. This pendant has had a unique, one-off mould hand carved in tufa. Hot metal has then been poured into the mould to create this solid pendant. Each band is 100% handmade by Kate.

The pendant is 4cm long from the top of the bail to the bottom. It is 2.2cm wide. The stone face measures approx 1cm x 0.5cm. The bail hole is 0.4cm wide.

All Mahkato Silver pieces are handmade with genuine .925 Sterling Silver, slowly crafted in Kate’s Sunshine Coast studio, and feature unique hand stamped designs. All stones used are Australian, and cut/polished by local lapidary artists. The Mahkato Silver makers mark stamp is visible on the inside of ring bands, and on the backs of earrings, pendants / other pieces.

*OPALS

Mahkato Silver only uses SOLID opals. The true colour of your opal ring may vary slightly to the photograph. The colour of opals varies greatly with light and shadow. It’s also important to note that they’re a naturally occurring material and might include natural ‘imperfections’.

IMPORTANT: Opal jewellery should be treated with care when worn. It is important to note that they are a natural material and can be subject to cracking if they are knocked against something hard, or dropped.
